Palo Alto's Congregation Kol Emeth holds an Erev Rosh Hashanah Seder and Dinner on Friday, Sept. 11, from 6:30 to 9 p.m. at 4175 Manuela Ave.
Rabbi Booth, Rabbi Graff, Morat Derech (teacher of the way) Sarah Miller and the congregation's education team lead the evening. According to the synagogue's fall calendar, the program includes hands-on activities, singing and a holiday dinner. The congregation describes the Rosh Hashanah seder as a chance to explore the themes of the Jewish New Year over a shared meal.
The seder opens a fall season at the Conservative synagogue that runs through early October.
Key dates
A four-week Lunch & Learn series, "Stories of the Return," began Tuesday, Sept. 8, from noon to 1 p.m. Rabbi Booth and Rav Weisberg lead sessions focused on Rabbinic and Hasidic stories of teshuvah, or spiritual return.
Rabbi Booth also leads an Intro to Judaism class on Wednesday evenings. Sessions are scheduled for Sept. 9 and Sept. 16 from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m., and Sept. 30 from 7 to 8 p.m. The class is open to anyone exploring Judaism, considering conversion or seeking deeper engagement with the faith, according to the congregation.
On Friday, Sept. 18, Kol Emeth asks congregants to skip synagogue and observe a Hospitality Shabbat at home from 6 to 8 p.m.
The Men's Havurah assembles the congregation's sukkah on Wednesday, Sept. 23, from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. Kol Emeth then hosts its Sukkot Harvest Festival on Friday, Sept. 25, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.
The Men's Havurah returns to the sukkah on Sunday, Sept. 27, from 7 to 9:30 p.m. for a schmooze night with food and team Jewish trivia.
The fall season wraps with Erev Simchat Torah on Saturday, Oct. 3, from 5:30 to 9 p.m. The congregation's listing promises dancing, singing, cocktails and caramel apples.
