Stanford Shopping Center generated five separate police cases for organized retail theft and shoplifting in three days, according to the Palo Alto Police Department's Aug. 5 report log. None resulted in an arrest.
The cluster at 180 El Camino Real ran from July 28 through July 30: two felony organized retail theft cases on July 28 (logged at 11:17 a.m. and 4:17 p.m.), one felony petty theft with priors and one misdemeanor organized retail theft on July 29, and one felony petty theft with priors on July 30. None of the five cases lists an arrest in the public log.
The shopping center has been a recurring enforcement location throughout summer 2026. As we reported July 31, the address had already seen at least five organized theft or shoplifting enforcement events since mid-May.
The same log documents a weapon arrest at El Camino Park, also on El Camino Real. Marcus Isaiah Dupree, 32, of Turlock was booked Aug. 3 at 9:47 p.m. at 155 El Camino Real on charges of criminal threats, carrying a concealed dirk or dagger and brandishing a weapon. Under California Penal Code 21310, carrying a concealed dirk or dagger is a "wobbler" that can be charged as a misdemeanor or felony.
The Aug. 5 log covers 18 cases total from July 22 through Aug. 3, a different reporting period than the prior log the Ledger covered Aug. 4, which focused on downtown and California Avenue incidents.
Five other named arrestees appear in the log:
- Megan Nichole Lucero, 36, of Gilroy: booked July 22 at 693 Arastradero Rd. for vehicle tampering and resisting an officer.
- Liam Anselm Bickford, 64, of Palo Alto: booked July 27 at 528 High St. for public nuisance.
- Sarah Ann Neal, 48, of Palo Alto: booked Aug. 1 at 541 Ramona St. for criminal threats and assault.
- Shoufang Zhang, 52, of Fremont and Terry Lui, 66, of Millbrae: booked Aug. 2 at 2343 Birch St. for disorderly conduct related to alcohol.
A felony burglary was also reported July 31 at 479 University Ave. and a motor vehicle theft July 29 at 435 Portage Ave., both without arrests.
No PAPD public statement on the retail theft pattern or targeted enforcement plans for the corridor was found as of Friday.
